How expensive is the Algarve?
So you are thinking going to the Algarve? Or maybe you already booked your trip to the Algarve. How much does it cost to travel for one week in south Portugal? More specific, how expensive is the Algarve? Portugal is known to be a very budget friendly country to visit. Meaning you do not need to have a lot. In any case, it is also a country where you can spend a lot if you decide so. As so many people we had a lot of travel plans for 2020, but then Corona happened. So, when we could go on a holiday of one week, we decided to have a more luxurious accommodation. We had no idea that it would be so good and we would love it this much, that the whole week was dominated by this. Looking back, we have zero regrets, but we did spend a lot (especially in a country as Portugal). How much we have spent as a couple in one week time?

Splurging in the Algarve
A couple traveling by car for one week. Eating out every single day, doing various activities. But above all we had some fantastic accommodations. How expensive is the Algarve? For us it was a little bit less than €3.000. You find the breakdown of it here below.

Most things were for free, because we spent our time mostly walking and enjoying the beaches. However we rented once a kayak. It was a blast.

This include airplane tickets, train ticket back home and car rental, including gas.

We had two local boutique hotels. This way we could discover the whole coastline.
